You Can't Serve Two Masters
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon…
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on...
Behold the birds of the air…
your heavenly Father feedeth them.”
From Matthew Chapter 6
There is a god of this world and there is God Almighty, there is a prince of the power of the air and there is The Living God who loves you. There are the ways of this world, and upside down from that there are the ways of the Kingdom of Heaven.
You cannot serve God and mammon, what is mammon? Who is God? There are two masters but many refuse to ask about the identities Jesus Christ identified as the only two paths people largely venture.
Mammon meaning money or worldly wealth, a Semitic word with proposed roots in ʾāman; meaning, firm, reliable, trustworthy, secure.
Everyone sits under something, you either find yourself under the grace and care of The One who put Adam in the Garden, or you claim to find safety and security in the ways of the world.
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
From 2 Corinthians Chapter 4
“in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”
From Ephesians Chapter 2
The world was made by God, for God, to belong to God: with people having dominion over it, to take care of it while they served Him.
The house had a Master, but no one served Him. The people of the house only serve the ways of the world and do not recognize The Builder of the home. They serve mammon.
This modern world, this home, is built for mammon, not God.
Look around September 2026’s Earth, look at her developments, who does this house serve?
Who are towers built for? God or mammon?
Who do the people wake up and slave for, God or mammon?
Who gets the souls of the children we birth and raise, God or mammon? When our children become adults who do they belong to, God or mammon?
If a home is filled with servants, serving mammon, who is the god of that house?
The world was made for a master, and people were handcrafted to serve One: but what is it to be a god of a world that is prophesied as to be destroyed? People are destroyed, the heavens are destroyed, the world is destroyed.
People who love Jesus stay, made to be into new bodies, and are given a New House. A house with direct connection with their Father.
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away…
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband…
Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God…
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof…
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
And they shall see his face…”
From Revelation Chapters 21 and 22
This is the Kingdom and House that God The Father has promised us as Christians, and we will receive it. It is the throne and power adorned with our Master Jesus Christ.
In contrast, what Satan promised Jesus when He was in the flesh, hungry for 40 days before starting His ministry:
“And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
From Luke Chapter 4
You can’t serve two masters, the same decision Jesus was faced with: you must make.
“call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.”
From Matthew Chapter 23
There is no way to look at a world that has love for success and storehouses and say a Christian should ever find security in those things. Jesus said the whole world was upside down from the Kingdom of God’s ideals. If the world says: there is power in business shoes, surely there is actual power in the humble sandals of Jesus Christ.
Jesus fed 9,000 who stayed with their Master even without food, actually only giving them exactly what they needed in those moments; and we call it a miracle while Elon Musk hires and feeds many more on a daily basis, and pays their bills too.
“Well, it’s because Jesus was able to miraculously make the provisions appear!” You might say:
That’s not the point, and Jesus knew that.
“And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”
From Luke Chapter 4
Jesus identified that it’s not about eating, but rather it’s about living for God. If Adam and Eve had seen the same thing, then He wouldn’t have had to die for them and us.
A Master gives you food, a spot to sleep and a direction to walk. Who gives you yours?
Because everyone sits under something.
“So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.
But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.
Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?”
From the end of the Book of Jonah
“Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah:
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here.”
From my Master, Jesus Christ.
