Terms of Use
SEPTEMBER 5, 2026
These are the terms for the Purpose of Life on Earth site and app. They are short on purpose. Reading them takes about four minutes, and nothing in them asks anything of you that a good neighbor would not.
Who you are dealing with
Purpose of Life on Earth is published by Daegan Alan Carey, an individual. If a company takes over the publishing, that change will be announced here, and these terms carry over to it.
What this is
The book, the audiobook, the Articles, the Streams and videos in Watch, and the Public Notes are all open to anyone, with no account. An account keeps personal things: your places, your Notes and Bookmarks, your settings. It never opens content that a person without an account cannot reach.
Your account
You need to be thirteen or older to open an account, or older where your country's law requires. One person, one account. Keep the email on it reachable, because it is how you sign in; there is no password. You can sign out or delete the account at any time from inside the app or the site. We may close an account that is used to abuse this place or other people, and we will say why.
What you agree not to do
Do not copy the site or the app at scale with scripts or tools, do not create accounts by machine, do not try to reach another person's account or data, do not break or work around any protection, and do not put unlawful content into a Note. That is the whole list.
Your Notes
Private Notes are yours. POLOE does not use them for curation or show them to other readers. They are stored and shown back to you, subject only to the limited authorized access described in the Privacy Policy. You can edit them or remove them from your Notebook whenever you like; the Privacy Policy explains when the stored record and edit history are deleted.
A Sent Note is a different act, and it is deliberate. By sending a Note you give Purpose of Life on Earth permission to read it, keep it while its review is open, quote it, adapt it, combine it with others, and use it in whole or in part, without your name and without payment, to help grow Public Notes, Articles, Streams, and the final 2033 edition of Purpose of Life on Earth. That permission is worldwide and passes to whoever publishes that work for us. You keep your own copy and your own rights in what you wrote; you only share them with us for that purpose. Credit is given as a count, never a name.
You can remove a Sent Note from your own Notebook at any time. An unpublished Sent Note is removed when you delete the account. Anything already grown from it stays, without your name. If you do not want a thought used that way, keep it as a Private Note.
What is ours
The book text, the audiobook, the Articles, the Public Notes, the artwork, the icons, and the names and marks of Purpose of Life on Earth are ours and are protected by law. You are welcome to read, listen, and watch, to keep Notes, and to copy or share a passage with its source named. Do not republish the book or the audiobook, sell them, or present them as your own. The Scripture editions in the app carry their own licenses and credits, listed on the Text Sources page.
App stores and sign-in providers
If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard license for apps, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement, governs your license to the app itself, and these terms govern the service. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms do the same. Signing in with Apple or Google is under their terms as well.
The honest limits
The site and the app are provided as they are. We work to keep them up and right, and we do not promise they will never be unavailable or never have a fault. Nothing here is professional advice about money, law, or health. To the full extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to one hundred United States dollars. Some places do not allow these limits, and where your law gives you protections that cannot be waived, those stay yours.
Which law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas and of the United States. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking goes to the state or federal courts sitting in Arkansas.
Changes, and the rest
If these terms change, the date at the top changes and anything that matters is said in the app. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still stands. These terms and the Privacy page are the whole agreement between you and us about this site and this app.
